Pros:
B school really opened my eyes as to what was possible for me as an online service provider/ course creator. The amount of information presented gives you a good understanding of what it takes to successfully market your online business. B school also provides two beginner or pre-courses to help you achieve the greatest success possible. If you are resourceful, patient and willing to do the work, you will find value in taking this course. I feel like it is a great pre-requisite online business marketing course. B school outlines the basics of building an online business in 6 modules.
Cons:
The breadth of the course material can seem overwhelming to the beginner student. This is not the course that you can do alone without running into temporary dead ends or moments of frustration. You need to cultivate accountability partners to lean on and to help you get through those rough moments. For instance, I remember the website module posing a lot of difficulty for many of the students. I think part of this frustration also stems from the harsh reality that you need to invest more money into your business in order to do some of the things Marie suggests to grow your business.
For students who agonized over the cost of the course alone, the thought of putting in more money to build your website or add the other recommended services and platforms as per Marie’s suggestions can leave you feeling discouraged and frustrated.
B school also had a FB community for each class in addition to the ability to participate in live Q&A sessions to ask questions and get feedback.
Personally speaking, I didn’t get as much out of the Bschool FB community as I did with Amy Porterfield’s b school experience FB group. Amy Porterfield is an affiliate for B school and I would highly recommend doing b school through her as she and her team were really invested in making sure the students who signed up for B school through her were well taken care of.
Because I felt so well taken care of with the Amy’s Facebook community, I did not personally engage too much in The B School Facebook group.
When racial tensions exploded earlier this year, Team Forleo did not have a very good response in handling the heated discussions that were occurring within the B School Facebook group. It left many B school students feeling upset and censored. Team Forleo made steps to be sensitive to the needs of the Bschoolers in the group that included disabling comments outside of their office hours in order to allow for better control of the nature of the discussions. But because B schoolers are all over the world, it affected some students’ ability to engage in the group. Ultimately, Team Forleo decided to remove themselves from the Facebook group stating that the Facebook group was never part of the original B school plan. It was originally created by an alumni student who wanted to create a community for B Schoolers through FB. Regardless, this decision did not sit well with many B school Alumni as they felt abandoned in the whole process. Team Forleo decided that the best way they could address the need for inclusion and diversity was through Live panel discussions with successful B school BIPOC Alumni.
Ideal Customer:
B school is perfect for the entrepreneur who already has some understanding of what their business idea or model is. It is mostly geared towards online business or services due to the heavy online marketing concentration. The successful B school student should be resourceful, open to learning, determined and coachable.
